 On Monday, March 10, 2025, X, formerly known as Twitter, experienced significant global outages, disrupting services for thousands of users. Reports indicate that the platform faced three distinct outage periods throughout the day.





Timeline of Outages


Early Morning: Around 6 a.m. Eastern Time (ET), approximately 19,000 users reported issues accessing X. 


Mid-Morning: At approximately 10 a.m. ET, reports surged, with over 40,000 users indicating problems. 


Late Morning: A third spike occurred around 11 a.m. ET, with more than 25,000 users affected. 



User Experience


During these outages, users encountered continuous buffering and error messages when attempting to access the platform. Many turned to alternative social media platforms, such as Meta's Threads, to discuss and confirm the issues with X. 



Company Response


Elon Musk, owner of X, attributed the disruptions to a "massive cyberattack." He suggested that the attack involved significant resources, potentially originating from a coordinated group or nation-state. Musk assured users that the company is actively working to trace the source of the attack and mitigate its impact. 



Current Status


As of now, services have been intermittently restored, but some users may still experience issues. The X team continues to monitor the situation and implement measures to ensure platform stability.
