Sinners is a 2025 American period action horror film written, directed, and produced by Ryan Coogler. Set in 1932 Mississippi, the film stars Michael B. Jordan in a dual role as twin brothers Smoke and Stack. The story follows their return to the Deep South where they confront racism, family trauma, and an ancient supernatural evil. Plot In 1932, twin brothers Smoke and Stack, both World War I veterans, return to their hometown in the Mississippi Delta after living in Chicago. Using stolen money, they buy a sawmill from a racist landowner and convert it into a juke joint — a place for the local Black community to enjoy music and culture. They are joined by their teenage cousin Sammie, an aspiring blues guitarist. Despite his father's religious opposition to music, Sammie becomes a regular performer at the juke joint.
